There are plenty of ways to enjoy marijuana. However, the tried-and-true method of rolling a cannabis joint is still the preferred way to go for many people in Colorado. There are many benefits to rolling joints, including the affordability and longevity. Joints are easy to carry around if you plan on being out and about on the town.
How to Roll for Beginners
If you have never rolled a joint before, then you will be pleased to hear it is actually very easy. Once you roll, it will become a breeze!
Grind the Plant
Before you start rolling, you need to break apart the cannabis. You will damage the paper if you try to put the full bud in there from the start. The easiest way to break it up is to use a grinder, but when you lack one of those, you can use your hands. The benefit of using a grinder is that it prevents your hands from becoming sticky, which can later make the paper sticky. You want to grind it up finely to avoid ending up with lumps when you begin rolling.
Make the Filter
This is optional, but it is advantageous if you do not want to end up with little bits of the marijuana flower in your mouth. Most joint papers already come with a crutch, which is a tiny piece of cardboard. You can fold this cardboard over several times before rolling it up.
Create the Crease
Before you add anything, you will need to fold the paper in half. You want to ensure the glue strip faces inward as you create the crease line where the weed will go.
Place Pot Within the Paper
At this point, it is time to start rolling. Hold the paper on one side and spread the grinded flower evenly along the crease. In the event you created a filter, you will want to insert it at this time. You can hold it into place using your thumb on one end while you continue filling the remainder of the paper with the plant.
Start Rolling To Form the Joint
As soon as your paper is filled with weed, it is time to start shaping. Using your fingertips, pinch the paper and gradually roll it back and forth. You want to keep in mind slow and steady wins the race because you want to pack the weed down into its desired shape. While most smokers are familiar with the classic cannabis joint appearance, there are various shapes you can turn it into if you really want to impress your friends. For example, you could make a cone shape where more marijuana is found toward the end. Shaping your joint before rolling it will make the process much simpler.
Seal the Joint
You need to place your thumbs toward the front of the joint while your fingers remain in the back. You should continue rolling the joint to even it out. Tuck the paper in the unglued side of the joint. You can lightly lick the part of the joint with the glue to seal it, and you are almost ready to start enjoying.
Pack It
The end of the joint may be a bit loose, and if that is the case, you can pack it with more weed. Use a stick or key to pack the marijuana down tight, so you get a nice even smoke throughout the joint.
Twist the Top and Light It Up
Once it is packed to your liking, you can twist the top so that nothing escapes. This is a crucial step if you will not light it up immediately. Otherwise, you can now go out and enjoy your joint.
